It’s hot girl summer but with no regards to the male gaze. Julia Fox comes to mind when considering the meaning of a brat woman. She says she’s “been dressing to reject the male gaze for years and it’s seriously empowering”. She instead dresses “for the gays and the girlies”. It really removes the performative element within society where we all must observe each other and be para-aware of the fact that we are being observed, rather than actually focussing on living and enjoying our lives. Brat takes the power away from society to define desirability by encouraging us to ditch trends and embrace our individuality.
