Open Call Submissions Terms & Conditions

ODE TO THEM OPEN CALL SUBMISSION TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Submission Fee

A submission fee applies to each entry unless otherwise stated. The fee contributes towards the administrative, editorial and curatorial work involved in receiving, reviewing and managing submissions and producing Ode’s Selected Works features.

Payment of a submission fee does not guarantee selection, publication, representation or inclusion in any future Ode to Them publication.

Ownership & Copyright

Artists and contributors retain copyright and ownership of their submitted work.

Submitting work to an Ode to Them open call does not transfer copyright or ownership of that work to Ode to Them.

By submitting, contributors give Ode to Them permission to reproduce selected submitted work, with appropriate credit, for the purposes of presenting and promoting the relevant open call and Selected Works feature across Ode to Them’s website, social media and associated editorial communications.

Selected Works

A selection of works may be chosen for editorial publication and promotion as part of Ode to Them’s Selected Works series.

Selection for an online or social-media feature does not automatically mean that a work has been selected for a printed publication.

Contributors will be credited wherever their selected work is published, wherever reasonably practicable.

Ode in Print

Selected works may be considered for inclusion in Ode to Them’s first printed publication.

If Ode to Them wishes to include a contributor’s work in a commercial printed publication, the contributor will be contacted separately before publication and offered payment for the agreed use of their work.

The proposed payment, permitted uses, format and any other relevant publishing terms will be communicated to the contributor before inclusion. No work will be included in the commercial printed publication without the contributor agreeing to those terms.

Unless separately agreed in writing, copyright remains with the creator.

Editing & Presentation

Ode to Them may make reasonable formatting, cropping or layout adjustments where necessary to present selected work within its editorial formats.

We will not intentionally make material alterations to the substance of a selected work without consulting the contributor.

Withdrawal

Contributors may contact Ode to Them regarding withdrawal of their submission before selection. Once editorial production or publication has begun, removal may not always be immediately possible.

Submission fees are non-refundable once a submission has been received and entered into the review process, except where required by applicable law.

Original Work & Permissions

Contributors must only submit work they have the right to submit and must obtain any necessary permissions relating to third-party copyright, identifiable individuals or other protected material contained within their submission.

By submitting, contributors confirm that they have the necessary rights and permissions to submit the work for consideration.
