OPEN CALL: BODY PARTS
For our latest open call, we're inviting artists, writers, photographers, filmmakers, and image-makers to respond to the theme:
BODY PARTS
From hands that hold to eyes that reveal, the body offers endless possibilities for storytelling, symbolism, and creative interpretation.
We're interested in work that explores identity, movement, vulnerability, strength, connection, sensation, and form. Submissions may be literal or abstract, intimate or expansive, playful or provocative. Whether through realism, symbolism, experimentation, or personal narrative, we welcome your unique perspective.
We welcome submissions across all mediums, including:
- Painting
- Photography
- Sculpture
- Illustration
- Digital Art
- Mixed Media
- Textile
- Printmaking
- Moving Image
- Writing & Poetry
Consider:
- The relationship between the body and identity
- Gesture, texture, movement, and sensation
- Memory, connection, and emotion
- Symbolic or surreal interpretations
- Personal, cultural, or social meanings connected to the body
Selected Artists
Selected works will be featured across Ode to Them and Articles for the Overwhelmed, with opportunities for future features, collaborations, and community showcases.
One selected artist will also receive an Ode to Them package.
Submission Guidelines
- Open to all artistic styles and mediums
- Original work only
- One submission per artist
Please include:
- Artwork title
- Medium
- Short artist statement (maximum 150 words)
Selection Criteria
Submissions will be reviewed based on:
- Originality and creativity
- Interpretation of the theme
- Technical execution
- Emotional or conceptual impact
- Overall presentation
We encourage thoughtful storytelling, bold ideas, and unexpected perspectives.
