Stepped out and she caught the sun
held it in her palms
and the fallings done
I’d be a fool to run but I don't fall for fun
reinforced walls as a rule of thumb
now I’m thinking its a rule for some
succumb
see what I’ve become and I was almost numb
I was almost done
hurt ‘cause we’re old
but we’re all so young
so I cried
and she cried too
to be hurt by the world
is to be seen by you
and I tried
and she tried too
to be free from the pain
is to bleed right through
so we bleed right through
I’ll be hurt by the world
if I can be by you
From the Artist:
Writing always feels like connecting to my inner-child, it's often very vulnerable and raw. For me it helps to make sense of triggers, insecurities, trauma - personal and generational - but it can also be playful, like sitting in the sandbox digging up fond memories. Sharing my work feels like a bid for connection, and I hope it finds people wanting to understand themselves in the same way.
I'm a musician and poet living in Hertfordshire and I have ADHD. I love writing songs and poems, scrapbooking, and finding places to listen and dance to good music. To me neurodiversity is a constant dance with self-acceptance/understanding, its passion, intensity, curiosity and sensitivity - creativity is something in which I can channel all of this, it's a chance to be understood or to take pride in being misunderstood.
