'We Were Here' serves as a captivating exploration of memory, existence, and transient beauty. Nosworthy presents the everyday as beautiful naturally occuring artworks, offering viewers a poignant reflection on our participation of fleeting experiences, encouraging us to notice as she depicts the picturesque places she visits, snapping as she goes, discovering the very real power of capturing a moment and immortalising it as art.
From the artist: I see myself as an amateur photographer. It’s something I can dip in to as and when I want which I think is important with art. I get my satisfaction from the process of film photography, the fact that it isn’t instantaneous and the technique of translating what I have experienced into something lasting. I capture images of what I see and what I think is beautiful; it’s a simple practice for me. Having prints of my photography and presenting these into folios is important. I feel that there is more engagement than when viewing these images on a screen. It is also ritualistic, to arrange the images, write captions, record the dates, to have something tangible of time spent.
